External motors are the perfect choice if you are looking for a quieter and more efficient kitchen.
With their powerful performance, these motors significantly reduce noise and improve the absorption capacity of cooker hoods, creating a more peaceful environment and a better cooking experience.
External motors are a great option especially when the external outlet is located at a distance of more than 7 metres from the hood, as it compensates for the pressure loss that commonly occurs in long-distance ducting.
Now, did you know that there are 3 different types of external motors? Read on and find out below:
External Motors – Intermediate
The intermediate motors are specially designed to be installed between the hood and the outlet to the outside of the house.
With exceptional power, they are the perfect solution to compensate for pressure loss in installations over long distances of more than 5-7 metres.
Best of all, by being positioned in the middle, they significantly reduce the perception of sound inside the home, providing a more pleasant and quieter experience in the kitchen.
External Motors – Wall
The wall-mounted motors are placed on the outside facade of the house, keeping away any noise they may generate and offering a powerful performance.
Thanks to their strong, weather- and corrosion-resistant construction, these external motors guarantee a long service life with minimum maintenance.
Not only will you enjoy a more quiet cooking environment, but you will also have the power you need to keep your kitchen free of smoke and undesired odours.
External Motors – Roof
Roof motors, as their name suggests, are strategically installed on the roof of the house, ensuring that noise is kept away from the interior of the kitchen.
In addition, thanks to their high performance, these external motors are able to cover long ducting runs and provide a significant increase in the hood’s suction power, ideal for kitchens that require greater extraction capacity.
Its robust, weather and corrosion resistant construction ensures a long service life with minimal maintenance, giving you peace of mind and confidence over time.
At Frecan, we understand that every kitchen has unique needs, whether it’s more power for an active kitchen or the search for a quieter environment inside the home.

It is important to consider that the installation of an external motor with high power ratings requires larger diameter ducting, with 200 mm all the way from the hood to the motor, and even in the outer section in the case of intermediate motors.
When considering the requirements for an external motor, it is essential to look at several factors, such as the kitchen’s volume, the type of cooking, the cooking area’s dimension, the type of hood and, above all, the distance to the outside, as the distance to the outside directly influences the pressure loss.
If the objective is silence, the type of ducting must be taken into account, as a large part of the sound we perceive from the hood is produced by the friction of the air in the ducts.
The use of rigid, high quality ducts and the avoidance of ducts with many bends is very important to guarantee low noise levels.
Now you know that external motors are an optimal choice if you are looking for a more efficient and quieter kitchen, without compromising on performance.
